School done time to game4/1/2023 Please rest in peace and know how loved you are. Most of my photos are of him outside playing with my dogs, running in the mountains, camping in the woods, helping me put my tent up, under Aspen trees, exploring pumpkin patches, climbing rocks.and so many photos of him being held and hugged or even just simply holding our hands. Ian's smile was as big and wonderous as his love for anything outdoors. I remember having a sleepover and letting him eat hot dogs and macaroni and cheese in my bed whilst watching cartoons! I have so many photos of us before I left Colorado. Aunt Beth and I spoiled Ian as much as we could. Then basically Ian and I would decorate it - with a little help from Beth and Julie. John would saw off the bottom of my Christmas tree and put it in the tree holder for me. Every Thanksgiving, John, Julie and Ian would come to my house (with Aunt Beth and Uncle Steve). His laugh when he was little would make anyone crack up! It was the funniest giggle ever! It was because of him that we started family traditions. I moved to Colorado when he was just 2 months old. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ian’s memory to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, both of which may be done though clicking on the green links provided or, a No-Kill Cat Rescue of your choice. He knew life’s happiness, but also knew life’s sorrows, which affected him deeply. ![]() Ian was a gentle soul, with a big, all feeling, fragile heart. Our family would like to thank all of Ian’s family, friends, teachers, and counselors who supported and believed in Ian over the years. In addition to piano, he sang and played drums, all of which were stepping stones to his composing beautiful electronic music as a young adult. When he was in the second grade, he was awarded a silver medal in a state-wide contest for his original piano composition. Ian’s other great passion in his life was his love of music, which was apparent from an early age. Ian uncovered a pocket of Amazonite and Smoky Quartz, which he took great pride in sharing with his family and friends. A highlight of Ian’s high school years was being invited to join professional prospectors at their claim in the Rocky Mountains. But he never let go of his love of geology. He went on to graduate early from high school, while continuing his job at the vet clinic.Īs he grew into his later teenage years, he spent time leading online discussion groups with members from all over the world, and playing group online games, laughing hysterically with friends. In high school, Ian began working as a vet tech assistant for a local veterinarian. He participated in an aeronautics club in middle school, where he served as an astronaut or a member of launch control for mock space shuttle launches. When vacationing at the ocean, he could spend days with his snorkel and mask, exploring the beautiful underwater world of coral and reef fish. Ian also enjoyed taking trips to numerous caves, mines, and national parks throughout the American West. ![]() If he wasn’t looking at a book, he could often be found lost in the world of Legos. Usually, these activities coincided with him prospecting for rocks, followed by hours indoors reading nature guides about his various discoveries. He would spend hours outdoors looking for spiders, snails, snakes, butterflies, and beetles. Growing up in Colorado, Ian developed interests and nurtured passions for all things nature, especially insects of all types, rocks and gemstones. As a young child, he asked his mom, “Why do I feel everything so deeply?” This summarizes who Ian was as a little boy, and continued to be into adulthood. He was the only child of his parents, John and Julie, and from a young age, it was apparent that the highs and lows of life affected him greatly. His gentle soul left this world too soon. Ian was born in Fort Collins, CO, nestled against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
